Joining Blessings

Have you ever wanted to do something but didn't have the extra income to do it?  That was me several months ago.  I wanted to support foreign missions more financially, but didn't really know how I could possibly find a part time job to work with my families schedule.  I began to pray and ask God to guide me and help open my eyes to His plan for me and my family.  My husband works long hours and he also commutes.  We don't have any family where we live, so if I got a job, I would have to pay for a sitter.  I looked at our family budget and realized that there wasn't much fat to trim and if I wanted to give more, I would have to start my own business from home.  Do you know how many direct sales businesses there are out there?  Too many for me to count!  Again, I prayed for God to lead me in the right direction and show me what would please Him.  My friend (and sponsor) had just started her Blessings Unlimited business and I was curious about the products and the story behind the company.  The more I researched and prayed, the more obvious it became that I could have a business as well as a ministry with Blessings Unlimited!

Now, when I hear people say that they just don't have the money to support a worthy cause or to adopt a child, I am compelled to tell them my story and pray for them!  God will give you a way to give more, do more and serve Him more, if you just allow Him to BLESS you!

Healthy Blessings

I made a resolution around New Years to become a healthier person, and I'm doing pretty well so far.  I've dropped about 21 pounds and I'm running about 2 miles almost every day.  My "aha" moment came when God spoke to me about how I was stewarding this body.  What He told me is that because I gave my life to Jesus, everything in my life belongs to Him (including this body)!  I just wasn't doing a good job staying healthy so I could do His Kingdom work, and I knew I needed a change.  I wanted to share with you that it has been so much easier to choose what is GOOD when it is for the Glory of Christ, and not for my own agenda!  My ultimate goals include being healthy enough to participate in many, many mission trips in the years to come, as well as continuing to raise funds for foreign missions through my Blessings Unlimited business.

Please pray for me as I continue on my journey to good health!

Some items that might help you on YOUR journey to good health are pictured below.

A Very Blessed Opportunity

Yesterday my company asked it's consultants to think about WHY they started their Blessings Unlimited business, and to share their reason with 10 people and 3 fellow consultants.  I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to share my WHY with you too!  Here is the letter I composed and sent to 10 friends and 3 fellow consultants:

For me, it is very simple.  In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus explains the Great Commission to His disciples.  He says “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”  I believe ALL Christians are missionaries and are to obey Christ's command to make disciples of all the nations.  Some Christians will carry this out in their own communities, while others will be called to leave their homes and minister to a lost and dying world.  God has called me to support foreign missions by giving 100% of my Blessings Unlimited profits (after tithes) to families on mission in foreign countries.  He has also called me to minister to the lost right here in NC by reaching out to my friends and neighbors on a daily basis and sharing my testimony with them.  What better platform to reach and disciple others than by living out my faith through my Blessings Unlimited Business!  Please pray for this ministry to glorify God the Father and for the salvation of the lost.

With Joy because of Jesus,

Brunch Blessings

Hi friends!  Are you getting ready for Easter at your house?  We sure are around here!  My oldest daughter turned 5 this week, and we gave her an Easter themed party to celebrate her special day.  The children are getting ready for egg hunts and have been "practicing" with pastel colored plastic eggs all week!  A friend asked me to share a recipe from my collection, and I thought I would pass it along to you too!  It would be a great Easter Brunch dish or something easy to prepare and share at church after a Sunrise Service.  It would also be beautiful served on our new Grace and Gratitude dishware!  Enjoy and remember, He is risen!

Ham and Cheese Brunch Squares
Ingredients:
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
2 cups (8 ounces) grated Colby & Monterey Jack cheese blend, divided
1 package (22.5 ounces) frozen toaster hash brown patties, thawed (10 patties)
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
12 eggs
½ teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
8 ounces thickly sliced deli ham
4-5 green onions with tops, divided (1 cup sliced)
3 plum tomatoes
Additional coarsely ground black pepper (optional)
1         Preheat oven to 450 degrees.  Lightly brush pan with oil.  Grate cheese.  Crumble hash browns over pan; press gently into an even layer.  Sprinkle half of the cheese evenly over hash browns.  Bake 13-15 minutes or until crust starts to brown and cheese is melted.
2         Meanwhile, in a bowl, whisk cream cheese until smooth.  Gradually add eggs and black pepper; whisk until smooth.  Coarsely chop ham.  Slice green onions, reserving ¼ cup of the tops for garnish.  Place ham and remaining green onions into sauté pan; cook and stir over medium heat 2-3 minutes or until hot.  Stir ham mixture into egg mixture.
3         Pour egg mixture over crust.  Return pan to oven; bake 6-8 minutes or until center is set.  Meanwhile, slice tomatoes in half lengthwise; scrape out seeds and dice.  Remove pan from oven; top with remaining cheese, tomatoes and reserved green onions.  Sprinkle with additional black pepper, if desired.  Cut into squares and serve.
Tips:  To soften cream cheese, microwave on HIGH 15-20 seconds or until softened.  Whisk until smooth.
If desired, 2 cups cooked and crumbled bulk pork sausage (3/4 pound) or 1 pound bacon, cooked, drained and crumbled, can be substituted for the deli ham.

Creative Blessings

As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.  1 Peter 4:10 NASB

Isn't it such a blessing to be resourceful?  I enjoy a challenge and using things I already have to make something I need.  I am NOT that creative or crafty, but it sure is fun to use the brain God gave me and try to get several uses from one item!  I also believe that when we are resourceful and creative, it is a great testament to how our wonderful Lord provides for us and cares for us.  Here is a challenge for you!  I've posted instructions on how to make your own paper chargers, and I would LOVE to see your creations!  They would make beautiful gifts and the possibilities are endless!  Please email me pictures of the paper chargers you create, and I will post them for everyone to see!

The Blessing of Hospitality

In anticipation of our new Grace and Gratitude tableware, I have decided to write to you today about hospitality.  What does God's word say about hospitality?  Hebrews 13:2 says "Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it (NASB)."  We should all be willing to cheerfully share our food, shelter, and spiritual refreshment with those that God brings into our lives!  Just last week, my mother-in-law gave us an enormous spiral-sliced-ham, and being a family of four with just two young children, I knew we couldn't possibly eat it all!  I placed a very large portion in a bowl and brought it to my sweet neighbor, who was able to make several meals out of it for her family.  My mother-in-law's generosity blessed 8 people, four of whom she doesn't really know!  I encourage you all to consider ways you may bless others with the gift of hospitality.  Maybe hosting a neighborhood bible study in your home, or inviting an unbeliever to dinner so they may experience God's love through you and your family.  Whatever it is that you feel God leading you to do, I pray that you receive many blessings from your hospitality!

The new Grace and Gratitude Tableware pictured above will be available at my website beginning April 2, 2012.  All profits (less tithes) support foreign missions!

A Very Blessed Opportunity

I am always excited about my job, especially when I am helping someone decide to start their own business.  I was just on the phone, walking a sweet friend through the steps to join Blessings Unlimited and it just occurred to me how blessed I am to serve her in this way.  I not only get to earn money to support foreign missions and get to share the love of Jesus Christ through our products and this ministry, but I get to serve my fellow Sisters in Christ with encouragement, prayer and advice!  I have the best job for me and my family, and I am most excited to serve our Heavenly Father with the Blessings Unlimited Business and Ministry He gave me!

I wanted to share something else.  Just a little reminder of how we can share Christ's love in our homes...

I am planning a Spring Open House as I write my blog post this morning.  Thinking about the lovely lemon cupcakes I can display on the new cupcake stand from our Spring Catalog.  Enjoying using the Blessings Blocks to spell Easter and embellishing my Small Hurricane with Easter Grass and brightly colored eggs!  Easter is such a precious time in our home, and I can't help but share with you that Jesus Is Risen!  Let us always know and celebrate His victory over death and sin and the hope of our salvation in His triumph!

Passing Blessings

My post today is a bit melancholy.  As I sit, typing this entry, my Grandmother is preparing to see her King.  She has been very sick with cancer and her time on this earth is drawing to a close.  I am so blessed to be able to travel the nearly 400 miles to visit and pray with her one last time.  She is an amazing woman who always took discipleship very seriously.  One of the greatest ways she served the Lord was by introducing Him to her Grandchildren.  She is the one who lead me to Christ, and I am forever grateful for the time she took to do this.  As the morphine calms her pain, I know she will gently slip away from us, but not forever!  One day we will worship Him together again!  Until that sweet day comes, I love you Nanny and I will miss you so very much...

If you are going through a "wilderness" time, I have some lovely literature that can help you, or a friend understand God's purpose for this time.  Also, 100% of my profits (after tithes) support Foreign Missions.

Stewarding our Blessings

My eyes are always open to saving money, or time or energy.  Some may call this excessive but I call it good stewardship!  I think the sanctification process of Christianity has taught me more about stewardship than any class or book ever could.  When we realize that because we are Christ followers, our lives and nothing in them belong to us anymore, stewarding our blessings becomes freeing!  Faithfully developing and using our gifts, talents and resources within the amount of time God has allotted to us is such an important part of our walk with Christ!

Holley Gerth is a great example of a Christian that has faithfully developed her God given gifts, talents and resources to further His Kingdom!

I'm excited to steward my blessings for Him!  How about you?

A new day, a new blessing.

I love greeting cards.  I love the way they feel...the way they smell...  Mostly, I love the way they make a person feel when they receive one.  There is just something wonderfully exciting about opening the mailbox to find an encouraging greeting nestled in a simple white envelope.  I think children really understand that these little notes, lovingly picked or painstakingly crafted, are so much more important than the spoken word.  Because the words are written, stamped, typed or embossed it makes them more real somehow...

The girls and I had a play date this afternoon with our lovely neighbors.  It's a give and take relationship, she gives me coffee and grown-up conversation.  I bring her pretty little packages of greeting cards that I get from my company.  It's a win-win in my book.  If you have a sweet neighbor or two, like me, consider what you love and don't forget to share...

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."  Luke 6:38
